random ejaculations from my thought factory

About 11 hours ago, someone told me that I should switch off the lights and all electrical appliances tonight at 8:30, ’cause it’s “Earth Day”. My immediate answer was, as you have guessed it: “fuck the planet!”.

But after a goooood night’s sleep, some interesting ideas sprang in  my mind:

1. Not just the idea of putting your lights off as a sign of support is a bad idea (doing this symbolic gesture instead of not throwing batteries in the trash or whatever shit that could have even the smallest ecological impact is like masturbating instead of having sex), but the whole idea of “save the planet” is BAD.
2. There are a lot of positive sides to NOT saving the planet:
   1. Future generations might actually have interesting problems to solve, like:
      1. How to synthesize food using just nuclear energy and chemicals (since all the soil could be too contaminated for safe agriculture, the ski covered by pollution clouds too thick to let the sunlight get down – ok, this is a bit unplausible but it was cool in The Matrix – and the oil would have run out).
      2. How to solve all the NEW and INERESTING medical problems that will appear as a result of pollution and our new way of life. Come on, medical research is fun! You wouldn’t want your grandchildren not having fun things to fill their time with.
   2. War: fewer natural resources will mean the future generation will have to FIGHT for them! And what spurs the development of science and technology more than good ol’ war (do you really thing we would have nukes and jets but for WW-II?! imagine all the cool stuff that will be invented before/during WW-III).
   3. And as a consequence of all that above: more selective pressure. Or, just to make you get it, an environment with more problems that need to be solved will accelerate natural / artificial selection and accelerate the evolution of our species.
3. You wouldn’t want your children and grandchildren to live in a natural paradise with everything they need in abundance, would you? That would be boring as hell! I mean, it would just drive them insane or something, don’t you think? A devastated planet with lots of problems to solve in order to survive and few resources so they would have to fight each other for them, well, that would be really cool! So let’s make the world a better place for our children and their children! Let’s fuck the planet!

…and remember, there’s nothing better than a gooood night’s sleep to make your mind see things the right way
